Hard Reset and Factory Reset of Sony Xperia Z4

Before you try the factory reset or hard reset on your device, make sure that you have backup your important files. Restoring the default settings or factory reset your device will delete all your existing files and will go back to its initial state.


Factory Reset:

>>> On your Home screen, tap Apps.

>>> Go to Settings, and select Backup & reset.

>>> Tap on Factory data reset.

>>> Then Reset phone.

>>> Confirm by tapping Erase everything. You just need to wait while your phone deleting your files and restoring your settings to default.


2nd Method Factory Reset / Hard Reset:

>>> Download Flashtool from Sony website: http://developer.sonymobile.com/services/flash-tool/

>>> Make sure that the drivers for your USB data cable is properly installed.

>>> Now turn your device off.

>>> Press and hold Volume Down, and connect to USB cable.

>>> Follow the instructions on your screen, and accept appropriate options.


Hard Reset:

>>> Turn OFF your phone. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons.

>>>There should a menu will appear on your phone.

>>>  Press the Volume down button to navigate to the Recovery option. Press the Volume Up to select (if that doesn't work, use the Power button to select).

>>> Use the Volume Down buttons to move to the Wipe data/Factory reset option and then press Volume Up or Power button to select.



Hard Reset Method 2:

>>> Press and hold the Power Button and Volume Up key. for a couple of seconds.

>>> Once the device will vibrate once, release the power button.

>>> Remain holding the volume key down for 10 more seconds.

>>>Your phone will vibrate again and then shutdown, indicating that the hard reset procedure is completed.
